DRV8870: Motor Driver Part Selection

Part Number: DRV8870
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8871, , DRV8872

We are considering the use of one of TI's brushed motor driver parts for a motor control application. We notice that three of your motor driver parts, DRV8870, DRV8871 & DRV8872 will all perform the same basic functions with minor external electrical component changes based on the part chosen. Which of the three parts is more widely used for your existing customer motor driver applications? We would like to choose the part that is more widely used with the intent of not choosing the version that may go obsolete sooner than others. Thank you for your help.

  • Peter,

All those devices are popular devices and don't have obsolete plan.

Those devices are different: DRV8871 has an integrated current sense; DRV8872 has nFault pin. You can pick one according to your requirement.
