DRV8313: Trapezoidal commutation vs drv8323 1x PWM mode

Part Number: DRV8313
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8323,

Hi,

I just want to confirm that there is a difference in trapezoidal commutation implementation between drv8323's 1x PWM mode vs DRV8313.

Reference: Figure 19. "1x PWM—Hall Effect Sensor" of drv8323 D.S.  I can't use a single PWM for DRV8313 trap commutation like the DRV8323 right?

  • Kelvin,

Thanks for posting on the MD forum!

You are correct, the DRV8313 does not have hall sensor comparators internally or a way to operate via 1X PWM. This being said you could input the hall sensors into your MCU and have a single external PWM control the MCU to generate the three inputs to the DRV.

Our DRV8323 Sensored code does something similar.

    Regards,
