DRV8873-Q1: Max current, timing and alterantive part

Part Number: DRV8873-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8711

Hello,

I have few questions and i appreciate any help you can offer.

Timing:

I am thinking to use your DRV8873-Q1 to drive an inductive load where the inductor current will go between positive current to negative current. I am interested to know how fast can the H-bridge switched once it received a signal to change direction? For my project the maximum allowed time to switch from off to completely on between the bridges is 5us. I saw on the datasheet, it has a deadtime of only 500ns, min 1.2u propagation delay, and maximum slew rate of 53.2V/us. This puts the total dead time of at 500ns+1.2us+1us*2= 3.7us. Is the slew rate for rise and fall the same and is this the correct calculation for total switch time?

Max Current:

When does the CURRENT REGULATION Itrip play a role in the device. Will it prevent me operating the device over Itrip current but less than Iocp?

Alternative part:

Do you have parts you can recommend that will operate 15A and 50V?

Thanks,

JZ

  • Zheng, Jian:

Timing: starting from a reverse voltage is applied to the inductive load, the direction is changed. In dead time, all FETs are off. A reverse voltage is applied to the inductive load through the FET's body diode. So, the timing is the propagation delay plus the FET turn-off time.

Max Current: When the CURRENT REGULATION Itrip play a role in the device, it will prevent the device operating over Itrip current.

Alternative part: Please check DRV8711 for 15A and 50V application.
