I need help identifying what I will need to activate a set of vibration motors.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8837, DRV8833

Hi Engineering Friends,

I plan to purchase and use the following vibration motor. The spec sheet is linked below.
https://pmdri.zendesk.com/attachments/token/TJv5tm0hqPpizSZ1vRiIWhdGl/?name=307-103.005-datasheet.pdf

I need help identifying what I will need to activate the vibration motors. The following is what I have in mind.

1. I will need to drive the Model 307-103.005 through its full range of frequencies and amplitudes. For example, at 100Hz. I would like to be able to control the frequency and amplitude, and the duration of vibration.

2. I would like to start (and stop) the vibration using an analog TTL voltage input. For example, 0 volts = no vibration; 5 volts = vibration at specified setting.

3. I would like to be able to activate two or more of the Model 307-103.005 at the very same time.

4. I will need extension wires to connect to the Model 307-103.005.

Thank you for your guidance.

-Michael

  • Hi Michael,

Please take a look at the following devices:

DRV8837/38 which has the ability to separate VM and VCC.

DRV8833 which can operate two motors separately.

This are good starting points to narrow down the proper device.

What is the system voltage you intend to connect the motor driver?

    3. I would like to be able to activate two or more of the Model 307-103.005 at the very same time.

Do you intend to connect two or more motors in parallel, or control two sets of outputs using one set of control signals.

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking if I want to control both motors with the same control signal.

Yes, I would like to control both motors with the same 5V control signal input.

  • Hi Michael,

I think the DRV8833 will fit your needs to drive multiple motors with the same control signal.

Can you also clarify the analog TTL input requirement?

    What does that mean?

Do you mean the input can be any voltage between 0 and 5V?
    Can you provide specific details?
