DRV110: Ipeak and Ihold at default values despite external resistors

Part Number: DRV110

Hi Team,

We are using DRV110APWR in our application with the following configuration of external resistors:

Rpeak = 220k
Rhold = 174k
Rsense = 150m

According to the datasheet, this should result in:

Ipeak = 1,82A
Ihold = 338mA

However, we measure the default values
Ipeak = 300mA and
Ihold = 50mA
on our Hardware.

If we short the solenoid we are trying to drive, measured Ihold increases to 250mA.

Can you give us a possible explanation for this behaviour?

Thanks and Regards,

David

  • Hi,

    I have notified our expert regarding this topic. Please expect a response by 5/28/20.

    Thanks,

  • Hi David,

    One possibility is higher Rsense ~1ohm since the ratio of the measured  Ipeak/Ihold(300mA/50mA)  is similar to target( 1820mA/338mA)

    Another possibility is wrong Rpeak, Rhold values.

    Also please check the solenoid supply, Vs should be greater than Ipeak*Solenoid_resistance

    To debug this issue DRV110 Vout and Vsense need to be monitored. If PWM is <100% at least in hold mode, resistors are not the right values
