DRV8313: About combination with TMS320F28034PAGT

Part Number: DRV8313
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8312

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to control DRV8313 by TMS320F28034PAGT.

They referred to DRV8312-C2-KIT and designed their board of DRV8313, but abnormal noise occurs and hear it.

(Of cause, they understand the major functional differences(Sleep pin etc.))

Therefore, they would like to know the cause of the abnormal noise and workaround.

---------

[Q1]

We understand that DRV8312 and DRV8313 specs are different(rise and fall time, Propagation delay, dead time).

If they changed the motor driver from DRV8312 to DRV8313, does device affect "acquisition timing of phase current"?

And, does this phenomenon cause the abnormal noise?

---------

[Q2]

If they use DRV8313(not DRV8312) at their board based on DRV8312-C2-KIT, could you please let us know any concern?

For example:

Our customer guess that the acquisition of phase current is not done appropriately on their circuit.

We understand that when ePWM1A signal output, U and V phase currents are acquired by ADC on DRV8312-C2-KIT.

If we use DRV8313, should I change a timing to acquire it?

---------

[Q3]

Could you please let us know the information if you have a reference design of DRV8313 and TMS320F28034PAGT?

---------

  • Hide,

We would need more details on the noise:

    1. Does the noise change with motor current? motor speed? is it different when changing motors or with no motor?
    2. Does the noise change with PWM frequency or duty cycle?

    Regards,

  • Hi Adam-san,

Unfortunately, our customer can’t find the root cause.

However, they confirmed the following phenomenon.

DRV8312: Even if PWM Duty is more than 50%, the phase current waveform of electric angle(from 180 to 360 degrees) is clear.

DRV8313: If PWM Duty is more than 50%, the phase current waveform of electric angle(from 180 to 360 degrees) is broken. Then, abnormal noise occurs.

I understand that DRV8312 and DRV8313 specs are different(rise and fall time, Propagation delay, dead time).

If they changed the motor driver from DRV8312 to DRV8313, does device affect “phase current behavior” and "acquisition timing of phase current"?
