Anyone has experience in 4-Phase SRM drive?

Hi all

I need to drive a 4-Phase SRM with 36V DC Voltage and 35A Phase current. Could anyone happened to has a solution for this application? Or, could someone tell me which controller chip and drive chip would possibly satisfy this task?

Hello Yang,

While we do not have too much experience with 4-phase SRM, we do have some content describing how to drive a 3-phase SRM (please see this link). The DRV8343-Q1 is capable of driving MOSFETs in SRM configuration, and so the easiest way to enable this may be to use two DRV8343-Q1 to drive four phases of the SRM motor.

Hi Yang,

Our TMS320F28035 is featured on TIDA-060030 with DRV8343-Q1, and our DRV8343S-Q1EVM uses MSP430F5529. TMS320F28035 will have capability for higher resolution PWM while MSP430F5529 is lower cost.

Hello Yang,

I would recommend using two DRV8343S-Q1EVM (SPI interface) or two DRV8343H-Q1EVM (Hardware interface). You would have six total phases across the two boards, and you can use four of them. This would provide the driver hardware but you would need to develop some firmware to control the four phases.
