It may work for your application depending on current needs and interface required. The DRV8424 uses a STEP/DIR interface while the DRV8823 is a serial interface.
The DRV8424 is available in a small 4x4 package and integrates the external sense resistors that are required for the DRV8823. So, using 2x DRV8424 would be much smaller than the dual driver above.
