DRV8825: DRV8825 can drive NEM-34

Part Number: DRV8825
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8711

Hello,

DRV8825 can support NEMA 34 Stepper Motor.(HT34-695)

we are using an HT34-695 stepper motor in a prototype application and had a question regarding the proper driving voltage. The notes in the datasheet mention 120V and 220V drives.but DRV8825 output Volatge 48v max.so Is it drive motor drive properly?

Application  :- Ventilator (https://wes-tech.com/talent-technology-ventilator-progress/)

Thanks in advance

  • Hello,

Typically, a NEMA 34 will require higher currents than what the DRV8825 can provide as it is rated up to 2.5A.

I am not sure where you are seeing mention of 120V/220V in the datasheet of the DRV8825.  Can you point me to that section?

For higher current needs, I would recommend taking a look at the DRV8711.  It uses external FETs to allow higher current needs like a NEMA 34 motor may require.

  • Dear ryan

    Thanks for reply

we are using NEMA-34 motor and it's operate on 110v AC (4.3A) for parallel connection and 220v AC (2.15A) for series connection

we are use motor driver DRV8825 its operate on 8-45V  and Load voltage 8-45V current 2.5A

    we are use series motor

It is operate sufficiently  for NEMA34  motor

    kindly suggest for better use

    Motor part number :- HT34-695

    manufacture :- Applied Motion

here i attach with motor Datasheet  please check motor datasheet.

  • Ketul,

It appears the DRV8825 will work fine in your application at those current and voltage levels.
