DRV10987: Can I use DRV10987 to do position control?

May I say DRV10987 is designed for speed control?

If we add encoder and gear to use DRV10987 to control position, do you have comment for the solution?

Hi Hongli,

Thanks for posting your question in Motor drives forum. Yes, DRV10983 is designed for speed control. DRV10987 is a sensorless motor driver IC and there is no provision to interface sensors with the device. I would recommend using DRV10970 which is a sensored device and you can use Hall sensors to control position.

There is a typo in my previous post. I meant DRV10983 and not DRV10987.

Let me re-post again to avoid confusion.

DRV10987 is designed for speed control. DRV10987 is a sensorless motor driver IC and there is no provision to interface sensors with the device. I would recommend using DRV10970 which is a sensored device and you can use Hall sensors to control position.
