DRV8881: Asserting nFault when restarting from sleep mode

Part Number: DRV8881

Hi,

My customer is evaluating DRV8881 and has a question.

Charge pump stops and VCP voltage goes low when sleep mode.

nFault is asserted when restarting from sleep mode because VCP is lower than VCPUV as the attached file.

DRV8881.xlsx

Can DRV8881 avoid asserting nFault when this restarting?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Tadahiko-san,

nSLEEP pin low sets the device in low quiescent current mode. All circuits are turned off which includes the nFault circuit. I don't think we can avoid asserting nFault during the start up. We have to wait for enough time for VCP read and nFault back to normal.

BTW, In the attached DRV8881.xlsx file, nFault signal, nSLEEP signal, VCP and their timing marking line are squeezed together. It is hard to say nFault is related to VCP from the waveform. If we zoom in the nSLEEP from low to high edge, we may be able to confirm it.

    Thank you for your feedback.
