Hi Team,

Good day. We received inquiry from customer asking for suggestion for his application with BLDC. For me to not miss any information, I will copy the query below.

"I want to design a BLDC motor driver card   with 15 Ampere Peak current and  48 volt  BLDC drive . The absolute encoder is being used to get rotor position on BiSS/SSI interface. Also 3 videos are to be shared on GigE interface. Could  i design the PCB based on any one of the part number TMS320F28377D-EP/AM4379/AM 6526  . Please suggest me  BLDC drive and phase inverter for my design."

  • Please refer to the links below, the TMS320F28377D can be used for such a motor drive with this absolute encoder, but it doesn't have such a video interface. The user might use two controllers, the C2000 is for motor drive, the other AMx device for video interface.

    Apologies for the late response, I just received reply from our customer. Please see reply below.

    "Actually i want suggestion of part number for BLDC drivers including phase inverters and FET . The continuous current requirement is around 7 Ampere but peak current is 10 Ampere for each motor . I need to drive 3 motors simultaneously. The 19 bit absolute encoder will provide rotor feedback and will be used for commutation. So i need on to read the three encoders for three BLDC motor with sinusoidal commutation. I need suggestion on processor/controller part number as well as motor driver chain for 10 Ampere load for each channel (total 3 channels).
    Also if required number of PWM's can be generated using AM series processor having Ethernet interface, then it can solve my both purpose of motor interface as well as giG Ethernet interface. Please suggest appropriate part number ."

     I just can tell you that an F2837x or F2838x can drive 3 motors as a controller with the related inverter board since I am providing the C2000 technical support for motor control on this E2E, but there is no EVM kit can drive 3 motors at the same time, the customer has to design their own board.

    From the motor drive side, I recommend customers might use the TMS320F28388D + DRV8323RS + FET to build their own board.
