DRV10983: Is there a similar driver without integrated FETs?

Part Number: DRV10983

i have been asked to look into driving a synchronous permanent magnet motor water pump.

This is my first contact with motor control issues.

Since the pump is a unidirectional appliance with limited dynamics issues ( start /stop and may be some speed variation ) a dedicated driver such as DRV10983 minus a microcontroller might be a sufficient  solution.

Problem with DRV10983  is limited voltage and current capability.

Is there a simple solution akin to DRV10983 with external FETS ?

The pump requires 150V, 8Amp driver.

P.S. I 'd prefer  not to  have to write code to handle motor drive issues.

Please advise

  • Hello Z Petru,

We don't have any control + gate drive devices or control + gate drive + power MOSFETs in those current and voltage requirements available at this time. We have these types of the devices on the roadmap but it'll take some time to development.

Specifically, the 150V is considered high voltage and most device's absolute maximum are around 100V for us right now, but we're working towards improving that.

As such, I believe TI doesn't have solutions for you right now and I suggest you search elsewhere. Best of luck on your search.

    Best,

  • Cole,

Thank You for Your time and forthright response.

I look forward to the new developments in this area.
