DRV8350: Buffer for input logic

Part Number: DRV8350
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7760

I'm wondering to know if the buffer device (for example SN74AHCT244PWR) is necessary to be place in front of the DRV8350 or not? The Input logic current of the DRV8350 is about 70uA,max specified in datasheet.

In customer topology, it's F28377D -> ISO7760 -> DRV8350. Is there any problem of the driving capability in between? Please help. Very thanks.

  • Hello Brian,

I do not think an additional buffer is needed for INLx and INHx pins. These pins have a 100k pulldown to ground and will require only 50uA input current (typically) at 5V. Based on the ISO7760 datasheet, it looks to be capable of sourcing up to 15mA.

However, there is no issue with adding an additional buffer for the logic inputs.

    Thanks,

    Matt
