Advanced PWM motor controller UC2638

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC2638

I bought the PWM controller UC2638 in order to control 2 directions for my DC motor.

I worked with the application information (Figure 1 in the datasheet) but I have some problems and some questions about it.

Why Aout2 and Bout2 are the same signal delayed from TDB ?

I want to understand why,

* on the one hand AOUT1 and AOUT2 do not control the top left PMOS transistor and the bottom right NMOS transistor during the same time and

* on the other hand BOUT1 and BOUT2 do not control the top right PMOS transistor and the bottom left NMOS transistor during the same time

the problem I have is for a positive command in RG1 connected to INV, I measure 1.5A in RS2 and 0.6A in RS1 instead of zero

In a second post I can give you the Vgs and Vds for each 4 transistors.

Thank you for your help

  • Vincent,

I am not familiar with the UC2638 and it is not recommended for new designs.

If you are just starting your motor design, I suggest you check the link below for other options that are optimized for motor drive:
