DRV8353: Help regarding configuration to apply in the design

Hi team,

I would like to request your assistance in this design plan of our customer below:

The customer is preparing for a mass production. They will produce 20,000 different sized motors.
They decided to use GaN (LMG3410R050 - 600-V 50-mΩ GaN with integrated driver and protection) products. Because of their fast switching.

But, apart from the processor; they are unsure whether an external transistor driver such as the drv8353 is needed.

They need 20,000 x 6 = 120,000 GaN for 20,000 motors.

drv8353 is actually a mosfet driver. specialized for motor control. Equipped with attributes like opamp. however, TI GAN products have an external drive inside. Therefore, they could not decide whether the GaN and drv8353 should be used to drive the motor.

Please let me know your recommendation.

    Hi Jonathan,

    Thanks for your question.

    LMG3410R050 has the gate driver built in, and so it does not need an additional gate driver.

    The IN pin of the LMG3410R050 is logic level and my be driven directly from a microcontroller.
