DRV8830: Questions about safety

Part Number: DRV8830

Hi.

We use the motor driver DRV8830DGQ in some of our projects, but now we need obtain the ISO 13849-1_2015, so, if you can comment the features about safety that this component has to help us to obtain that ISO, would be great.

Or if you can recommend me some other motor drivers with similar general features but with more safety features.

Hello Asael,

I'm not personally familiar with all the requirements for the ISO 13849-1:2015 standard. The DRV8830 does have protection features like over-current protection, under-voltage lockout, and thermal shutdown. Please read section 7.3.4 of the datasheet to learn more about these protection features. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the protection safety features.

These safety features of the DRV8830 are meant to protect the device and not intended to help meet any ISO standard requirements.

Hi Pablo, this info helps me, only one more question, the estimator give me the MTBF and FIT, also I need the MTTF.

I read the reliability terminology to understand the difference between MTTF and MTBF, one is used in the context of non-repairable systems and the other is used for repairable systems, so, how can I know the MTTF?

Hi Asael,

I got the terminology confused in the previous reply. You are correct, MTTF is the average time before total failure and MTBF is the average time before repairable failure. It seems like we don't have the MTTF data on there. May I know why you want to know this information?
