We are building an automotive application that requires us to run some brushed motors. So i wanted to see what option you have for motor controllers that can take 1 serial input and generate 4 PWMs to run the motors.

My controller is limited to 9 PWMs, and i have to drive 8 DC brushed motors that requires 4 PWMS each. So, some motor controller need to fill in and convert the single PWM from MCU to 4 PWMs.

Peak Output Current: 1.5A
Any serial interface can work (I2C, SPI, etc)

Hi,

Take a look at the DRV89xx-Q1 family (DRV8908-Q1 is an 8-output device). This family of devices has a SPI input and internal generators (max is 2KHz which can sometimes be insufficient if you need to be above human audible range).

Hi Michael,

thank you for your this suggestion, I see that the max operating voltage for DRV8908-Q1 is 40V, however the motors I have are 48V, can you suggest something that can drive 48V motors?

highly appreciate your input.

We do not currently have any 48V automotive devices released that would target an application like this. Could you tell me more about the application? Are you running directly off the 48V battery to drive these motors?

I am also not sure why you need 4 PWMs to drive a brushed motor. We have solutions at lower voltages that only use 1x PWM per motor to control speed and a GPIO can be used to change direction.
