SN754410: Half- vs Full-H Bridge

Hi Team,

Our customer intends to use the SN754410 and they'd like to ask for the particular advantage(s) of using this configuration of several Half H bridges, instead of just using a full H bridge?

The SN754410 is capable of driving a motor in both directions, but this seems to be the case for a full H bridge as well. What would be the main advantage in organizing it as a quadruple Half H bridge?

    Hi Jejomar,

    The main advantage of the half-bridge drivers is that each half-bridge can be independently controlled. Most of the full-bridge drivers may not have independent half-bridge control. However, we do have other full-bridge drivers with independent half-bridge control in our portfolio. 

    The other disadvantage of this device is that is very old so it doesn't have many protection features as the overcurrent, over temperature, and undervoltage protection. If you desire these protection features in your project, i recommend looking for a newer driver. Let me know if you need any recommendations.
