DRV8803: Parallel inputs and outputs

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to use DRV8803 as a driver for 6 proportional valves (~500mA/24V, 1200Hz PWM). He would like to know if he can parallel the inputs and outputs of the device. The IN1 and IN2 will be connected in parallel to control one valve thru Out1 and Out2 which are also connected in parallel. Then IN3 and IN4 will be connected in parallel to control another valve thru Out3 and Out4 which are also connected in parallel

He would like to know as well if we have the exact same functionality as the DRV8803 but for one channel only? I have searched our product lines and found DRV8873-Q1 which seems fit for his requirements. Can you please confirm?

    This is possible to do but why does the customer want to do parallel input/outputs? It would make sense if they want higher current capabilities but their load is ~500mA at 24V. A single output channel is capable of providing 1-A drive current which is more than the load requires.

    Maybe I am not understanding how they plan to connect the loads. Do they plan on connecting more than one load on one parallel channel? Can you provide more information on their set-up?

    The DRV8873-Q1 is one of our highest current rated integrated FET drivers. It has a max output current of 10-A. This driver might be too overspec for their design. Can you confirm what is the total current requirements for their design? Another good option is the DRV8874 which has a 6-A max output current rating.
