How do I update the Smart Fuse Configurator firmware on my HSS motherboard EVM?

Only Gen3+ EVMs (orange PCB on motherboard) support the new firmware. Steps:

  • Open Smart Fuse Configurator v2.0.14 → Tools → 'Enter DFU Mode'.
  • Confirm the Stellaris DFU device appears in Device Manager (install drivers if shown as Unknown).
  • Run: .\dfuprog.exe -f .\usb_hss_spi_v4001.bin -a 0x0
  • After the update, use Smart Fuse Configurator v3.0.4beta+ — it shows Firmware Revision ≥ v4000.

New firmware is forward-compatible with future roadmap devices; future device support is enabled by GUI updates only.

Where can I find the current limit and junction temperature calculator for TI HSS devices?

TI provides H_HB_HC_ICLPDISS_calculator.xlsm (downloadable via the linked E2E FAQ post). Covers H, HB, and HC device families. Calculates effective current limit range (accounting for RILIM tolerance and IC accuracy) and estimated junction temperature from load current and ambient temperature. A PSpice simulation model is also available for select devices for transient analysis.
