BQ34Z100-G1: update status stayes at 0x06 after learning cycle

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100

Hello,

I don't understant why the update status remains at 0x06...

After a successfull learning cycle, I fully charged and fully discharged the battery, but it stayed at 0x06. Since that day it never changed, even though I ran several more cycles...

What is the consequence of this?

What can I do?

Should I write the value myself?

Thanks,

yf

  • Hello,

This indicates the battery pack is fully learned, the update status should not increment further than 0x06 for this gauge.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Thanks,

Could you then explain to me how to do this (found in slua903):

"Before saving the Golden File, set Update Status to 02 to disable IT gauging, set the Qmax Cycle
Count to 0, and set the Cycle Count to 0. For a pack side gauge, this ensures that when the pack is
assembled and gauging and lifetime data is enabled, the cycle counts start from 0."

I can write 02 in the update status, but I don't know how to set cycle count in bq...

  • Hi Yunfeng,

I apologize for the late response. There is no Qmax Cycle Count on the BQ34z100 but there is a cycle count under Gas Gauging:State and one under Configuration:Data. Please set both to 0.

    Best,

    Jessica
