TPS659037: Enable timing for ADC resister access via I2C

Part Number: TPS659037

Hello Team,

Our customer want to make sure the timing when I2C and ADC is getting enable.

They basically control enable for the output voltage to external circuit at POWERHOLD pin.

Is it possible to be able to access resister related ADC via I2C or AD conversion even if POWERHOLD is at RESET_IN with pull-up ?

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki

  • Hi Michiaki-san,

Can you clarify what state the device will be in? I am not sure what you mean by POWERHOLD being at RESET_IN.

    Best regards,

    Layne J

  • Sorry for my poor explanation.

Customer would like to sure the below situation.

    • Condition
    • RESET_IN pull-up
    • POWERHOLD Low

In the above case, Can TPS65907 be accessed resister related ADC through I2C ?  ADC can work in that condition ?

    And here is additional question.

There are 3 devices that are TPS659037, MCU and other device in the I2C line as below.

First, Other device work as Master during MCU off state and then MCU work as master after boot-up. After MCU boot-up (release RESET), other device work as slave device.

Can other device as master access to TPS659037 ?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Michiaki

  • Hi Michiaki-san,

Is the POWERHOLD pin being used to power up the device in this design? Can you provide a specific part number for which version of TPS659037 you are using?

Any device should be able to communicate with TPS659037 as long as that device is connected to the same I2C net and utilizes the proper address. TPS659037 will not know which specific device is communicating with it and will respond in the same way in either scenario.

    Best regards,

    Layne J

  • Hi Layne,

Customer’s expectation is that TPS659037 is on status by pull-up for RESET_IN even if power hold is low stage because customer would like to access the resistor via I2C.

Is the above case applicable ?

The full parts number is TPS6590378ZWST.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Michiaki

  • Hi Michiaki-san,

RESET_IN is not a valid ON Request and will not result in the device being powered on unless a different ON request is present. I would recommend reviewing Table 5-9 of the TPS659037 datasheet. I2C is not available until the device has completed power up.

    Best regards,
