BQ77915: Hysteresis

Part Number: BQ77915

How is the hysteresis of Over Voltage of a certain part number different from the hysteresis of cell balancing of the same part? I am referring to the Device Comparison Tables in the Datasheet.

  • Hi Aparna,

The over voltage hysteresis defines where the part releases the overvoltage state after the OV condition.   The cell balancing hysteresis VOV - VFC defines a VFC point where balancing will change mode.  See table 1 and table 2 of the BQ77915 data sheet for a summary of settings available.  VFC is the point the part thinks is the full charge value of the cells or the charger cell voltage target.   There is a video to help explain balancing in the BQ77915 product folder Videos section, or at https://training.ti.com/how-cell-balancing-feature-works-bq77915 .
