TI's stackable converters have focused on edge synchronized fixed frequency architectures such as voltage mode control, peak and average current mode control verse the variable frequency Constant On-time control, were we have traditionally favored multi-phase controllers with external Power FETs.

Phase shifting, frequency matching, and current sharing are typically much more difficult in Constant On-time control where loop solutions often sacrifice the key value propasitions of COT control in order to provide frequency matching, phase spreading and phase current matching.

While stackable COT solutions do exist, their performance is often lacking compared to a multi-phase solution where all of phases loops are controlled by a single core rather than distributed across multiple devices.
