UCC28950: Replacement of transformer with isolater

Part Number: UCC28950
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC21520, , UCC27714

Dear sir

As I am designing a DC-DC Convertor using UCC28950PWR. For AC to DC Conversion we are using "Vienna Rectifier- Based Design".

Please suggest a replacement for the Isolation Transformer with Digital Isolators.

**Which Isolator we use to replace the Isolation Transformer.

Please find the design file attached herein.

  • Hello.

It looks like you created a Webench design and you would like to get a pre-designed transformer.  Generally the phase shifted full bridge designs require a custom transformer.  Generally the information that is provided by Webench is given to a magnetic design house such as Wurth, Renco or GCI and they will construct a transformer for this application based on the transformer information that is given from the Webench design tool.

  • Hello Mike

I also mention I want to remove two transformers from the design as it's only used to trigger Mosfet. Is it possible i go with UCC21520. Please suggest to me how I can do this change.

  • Hello,

There is a PSFB EVM using the UCC28950 and the UCC27714 high side low side gate gate driver that may work for your application.

The UCC21520 with high voltage isolation will work as well for your design if you are trying to remove your gate drive transformer.
