Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25100, BQ51003, , BQ21040, BQ25170
Dear Support,
I recently completed a wireless charging design using the BQ51003 and BQ25100 to charge a 3.7V 70mA LI-ion Battery at 0.5C (35mA). I would like to substitute out these two parts for non BGA packages. Ideally, all the circuitry would remain the same I would just have to account for new packages/layout.
I found the BQ51013B which comes in a QFN type package and appears to be pin for pin compatible with the BQ51003 with the only difference being it offers a higher possible output current (which for me is a don't care). Is my assessment true? Can I use the same coil, same calculated capacitor values and just change my layout?
To replace the BQ25100 seems to be harder to find a 1 for 1 substitute, I found the BQ21040 which does not have an external pre-term option which is fine and is recommended to have an ISET minimum of 50mA (acceptable although not as ideal). This is also a small and cheap part which is desirable but am I missing a closer alternative to the original part? If not, is my assessment of this being an acceptable substitution fair?
Thank!
