LM5145: LM5145 SYNC function

Part Number: LM5145

Hi,

we found LM5145 have a SYNC pin could do switching frequency SYNC with external frequency.

about this SYNC function, what is the target of this design?

is this must be used? if we do not use it, do we need to connect it to ground or float?

    hope for your confirmation.

    thanks a lot.

  • Hi Shuang,

A SYNC signal is not required - the controller can operate based on the free-running frequency set by the RT resistor. In the LM5145, SYNCIN is also a MODE pin that configures FPWM or diode emulation mode. There is an internal 20k pulldown from SYNCIN to GND, so diode emulation is set by default. Tie SYNCIN to VCC to set FPWM. See the LM5145 datasheet for more detail.

    Regards,

    Tim
