LM5143-Q1: Power Good Testing

Part Number: LM5143-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5143

Hi,
I have a customer asking some questions about the PG functionality of the LM5143:

  • How can we test the PG thresholds during normal operation of the buck?
  • How fast will the PG react to any Over/Under (transient) voltages?
  • Do you have any test reports to highlight the PG thresholds?

I am assuming the best way to test the PG thresholds is by injecting a voltage directly onto the FB pin, but would like confirmation.
I know there is a 25us (rising) and 22us (falling) filter on PG. Is that the only delay they will see or is there something else we need to account for?

Thanks,
Tyler

  • Hi Tyler,

Those delays should be fully inclusive. The relevant FB thresholds are given in the datasheet. You can see the UV threshold during startup/shutdown as VOUT is changing. The OV threshold requires a significant overvoltage event (a full-load to no-load transient may do it).

    Regards,

    Tim
