LMR36506: Vout fixed or adjustable?

Part Number: LMR36506

Hi,

For Vout_adj how to select the Vout? Should add external voltage divider or is it already integrated into the IC and just need to select thru an external pin? And for Vout_fixed the resistor is already integrated to set the 3.3V or 5V fixed or it is external?

PROs and CONs of fixed vs ADJ?

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

For the adjustable VOUT version, an external resistor divider at the FB pin (pin 8) is required to set the output voltage.

See the Output Voltage Selection section of the datasheet, beginning at the bottom of page 16: https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lmr36506.pdf#page=16

For the fixed 5V or 3.3V version, the resistors are integrated in the IC. Connect the VOUT/BIAS pin (pin 8)  to the output voltage node. (Also described in the section linked above).

Benefits of the fixed version are that no extra components (FB resistors) are required to set VOUT and the output voltage accuracy is not affected by the tolerance of any external FB resistors. The benefit of the adjustable version is that you can set to any output voltage .

    Regards, Jason
