Hello,
Sometimes the EV2400 can be damaged from reverse current flowing through the communication lines. I would verify the communication lines were not shorted to something that could damaged the EV2400.
Sincerely,
Wyatt Keller
Hello Stephen,
Were you using the EV2400 with a TI EVM or with a custom board? Can you send a picture of all the connections for the system?
Sincerely,
Wyatt Keller
Hello Stephen,
I'm not quite sure what the images are indicating, is it a custom PCB you are testing with?
Sincerely,
Wyatt Keller
Hello Stephen,
I have not worked with that kind of battery pack, if the connections were momentarily misconnected it could've damaged the EV2400. I would recommend ordering another to test with further.
Sincerely,
Wyatt Keller
Is there no chance of a replacement? (I'm not so concerned with what went wrong.) The module is $200 and now we are stuck with it.
Do you have any suggestions for helping us out in this besides purchasing another to test further? What else can be done?
Please! and Thank you!
Hello Stephen,
The BOM should be posted, if you suspect a part is damaged you can try replacing it. If the EV2400 was not used with our full tool-chain (bqStudio-EV2400-TI EVM) and was damaged on plug-in I'm not sure what else we can do, let me check with someone else on the team.
Sincerely,
Wyatt Keller
We already tried to replace the burned component on the board. Right now it doesn't even power up.
Am I using the wrong module for this? I was told this is the correct module to access the data on that model battery directly by the manufacturer (RRC). Even if we end up buying a new one, can we get some cost knocked off? Anything helps at this point. We have batteries sitting on the shelf at risk for expiring.
Thank you.
Stephen,
The red wire should not be used when connecting to anything. The EV2400 is designed to work with our EVM's which always have the 4th wire floating. You only need GND, CLK, Data. At this point there is nothing I can do internally to our ordering system to offer a discount. i will look into it, but assume if you don't get a reply on this thread over the next two days i am unable to assist with this.
Thanks,
Eric Vos
Eric,
That's too bad. I connected to the battery exactly how I was told. What you're saying now means I was given misinformation on how to use the equipment. We are a smaller operation centrally located in Tulsa OK but our team supports a handful of major airliners (including AA and United), as well as NASA and the US Air Force, using this very equipment. I have already tried to fix the board myself because a $200 piece (that now needs to be REpurchased) puts us out more than you might think.
I will be surprised if no real assistance is offered after the testimony I have given.
I respectfully ask for a response in this thread even if the answer is no, instead of being left to "assume" you are not willing.
Genuinely, I am asking with the utmost respect if you can help us resolve this in a more equitable manner than what seems to be trending.
I am waiting your reply. Thank you.
Stephen,
I will take this conversation offline with you.
In the effort to help other E2E viewers could you use this forum to help me locate the documents you are referencing that informed you to connect the EV2400 to a non-TI EVM which included the use of the VSS pin?
I2C only requires 3 pins Ground, CLK, and Data.
Thanks,
Eric Vos
Eric,
I did not reference possessing any documents. I was told very clearly to do this over the phone via a conversation with the manufacturer. Can we pursue your assistance without some form of documentation?
I have provided you with everything I am able. How do we move forward?
Hello Stephen,
We will reach out to you offline, check for friend requests.
Sincerely,
Wyatt Keller
Stephen,
Unfortunately since the connection was made without the advice of TI you would need to purchase another module from TI.
Thanks,
Eric Vos
