BQ40Z50-R3-DEVICE-FW: How can i disable DCHG on low battery?

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R3-DEVICE-FW

Hello,

i have an BQ40Z50 with R3 firmware. How can i disable on low battery the discharging fet? The idea is that is shall not be possible to switch the tablet on low battery on and it shall wait for the next charging. And the bms shall already active and not shut down completely. It is an build in no removable battery.

Currently the bms goes in permanent fail and i can only reactivate with external power. The current problem is, if the OS shutting down, it is possible to switch it again on and the battery will ran in permanent fail or something else.

Attached is my gg file and please give me an advice which is the right setting.

best regards

  • Martin,

I am not sure i fully understand your question. The bq40z50 has first level safety and 2nd level safety. The first level are all recoverable events. The protection you are looking for will be CUV (Cell under voltage). There is also a setting CUV_RECOV_CHG which will require you to have a charger connected prior to recovering.

The CUV protection will only turn off the DSG FET so the system will still have power through the CHG FET.

It sounds like you need to adjust your protection to trigger prior to your PF occurring.

    Thanks,
