BQ25303J: Minimum Charge Current Allowed

Part Number: BQ25303J

For the BQ25303J, is there a minimum charge current that can be set with the external resistor.

For example, if I had a 250mAh battery and I wanted to charge at 125mA (C/2), could I set my resistor to 320kOhms (40k/0.125) to achieve this?  Is there any issues with low charge currents such as this?

  • Hi Matt,

I would recommend using this part for above 300mA charging. With a switching converter, the accuracy goes down at lower charge currents because it gets harder for the converter to sense such low ripple currents. It isn't feasible to use a switching charger for such a low charge current of 125mA. I would recommend you selecting a linear charger for your application.
