BQ25895: Input current limit setting by D+/D-

Hi team,

My customer didn't use D+/D- pin, so we suggest them to short D+ and D- pin together.

So my question is how about input current limit value if D+/D- short together?

Based on our testing result, it seems current limit is limited at 1.5A? Why not 3.25A?

And if it is 1.5A, is there any hardware solution to change to higher current limit?

Hello Paul,

The charger should detect an unknown adaptor which is 500mA, you will have to write the new current limit via I2C to change this.

If you can't change it via I2C, for hardware you would need to use one of the voltage divider thresholds to set the current limit you want.

Hello Paul,

It should default to 500mA as an unknown adapter, let me verify this and get back to you this week.

Hello Paul,

The charger will default to 500mA when D+/D- are tied to ground. It will default to 1.5A when the pins are tied together and floating on the EVM.
