BQ25883: About Iq

Part Number: BQ25883

Hi,

A question from my customer as below,  thanks for your comments.

As the USB client is enumerated (either thru this BQ25883’s or the main SoC’s USB D+/D-) and the USB host (laptop or desktop) enters Suspend S3 mode,

the USB2.0 spec allows a max. 2.5-mA suspend current (drawn off 5V VBUS) at such moment (battery pack removed or disables charging function in advance),

  • Does it mean IVBUS_HIZ?
  • Besides, when does the “converter not switching” when “5V VUS and 7V6 battery present” (circled in red down below)?
  • Hi,

    1. Yes, you can put the BQ25883 in HIZ mode so that the input current drawn from VBUS is <2.5 mA. You can disable the EN_HIZ bit later to exit HIZ mode.
    2. There are several fault conditions which will shut down the converter and disable switching even when VBUS and VBAT are both present, such as input over-voltage, input under-voltage, system over-voltage, system over-current, and thermal shutdown. These conditions are described in Sections 8.3.11 and 8.3.12 in the datasheet.

    Best regards,

    Angelo
