LM5026: overtemperature protection circuit

Part Number: LM5026

Hi Team,

Now we have removed the over-temperature protection function of the LM5026. When the product runs at the ambient temperature of 130 degrees, we find that the duty cycle is very small when the chip is open loop. so, my customer doubt that the duty cycle was influenced by OTP function. At present, we want to known the OTP working machinism and phenomenon.

thank you!

  • Hi,

The recommendation is to use LM5026 in temperature range of -40C to 125C. If you use outside this range, the IC cannot behave normally. The IC designed, tested, and characterized within the specified temperature range.

  • Well,if we use LM5026 in the temperature of 130 degree C, the IC how to behave as over temperature protection? Cut off the duty cycle immediately or gradually clamp down, is there any curve diagram? thanks!

  • Hi,

The over temperature protection is to make shutdown right away. Note this protection is to avoid the IC catastrophic failure or damage and it is different from the operation outside of the recommended temperature range operation which if outside, there is no guarantee the IC still functions as that in the operation of the recommended temperature range.
