LM66100: Can they handle spikes of 2A of 0.6m every 4.5ms

We're looking to use LM66100 for power ORing to power a GSM module. This GSM module takes a peak of 2A for a duration of 0.6 ms every 4.5ms. Can LM66100 handle such spikes? We're asking because of the low cost of LM66100. Thanks.

Hi Prithvi,

By our datasheet, we spec the max pulse current is 2.5A assuming it lasts for 120ms in a time period of 6 seconds. Is the device constantly going to be transmitting? If so, I don't believe these constant pulls can be supported.

I recommend taking a look at TPS2116. This PowerMUX device integrates two channels and can be setup to switch between two sources. This device can handle 2A constant current so I think your application will work here.

We plan to release this device soon. Even though it is in the preview state, you can order samples as well as order EVMs to complete testing for your setup.
