TPS23756: Does TPS23756 support LLDP?

Part Number: TPS23756
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2373

Hi, Madam/Sir,

My team is using TPS23756 as the POE solution on few products, but we are wondering whether it supports LLDP or not?

If not, do we need to choose something like TPS2373, which has automatic MPS, in order to support LLDP?

Thanks.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your question.

LLDP operation will not be impacted by TPS23756 or any of TI's PoE PDs so there is no concern with using TPS23756 in LLDP application.

Basically, after the hardware classification, an MCU on the PD side can be used to negotiate higher power via LLDP.

LLDP uses data communication to negotiate the higher power and data communication is not impacted by the power over ethernet portion. They are independent of each other.

  • Hi, Sir

OK, understood, really appreciate your explanation.

    Thanks.
