UCC28610: flyback solution for negative input

Part Number: UCC28610

Hi Team,

Is there any Flyback solution applicable for negative input? The negative input will up to -72Vdc.

Regards,

  • Hi Charles,

I am not sure what power you need to support nor whether the output is positive or negative,  but I did find the PMP20580 reference design that supports a -72V input.

Are you looking for something like this?

    Regards,

  • Hi JCHK,

Thanks for your reply, the PSU output will be 12V/100W.

I have known PMP20580, now I am wondering if Flyback topology is also applicable for negative input application.

    Regards,

  • Hi Charles,

Since a flyback supply uses a transformer, there is no reason it can't work from a negative input rail as long as the controller GND is the most negative potential and the absolute maximum ratings of the controller are not violated.  Unfortunately in webench or with our models, this may not simulate well as the models assume the lowest potential is GND. It might be best to get an EVM to try it out.
