BQ40Z80: The MOS tube of battery pack discharge turns off randomly

Part Number: BQ40Z80

BQ40Z80 BMS problems

1. Product use environment

The chip is used in 4S/8Ah, 5S/10Ah lithium-ion battery pack.

The battery pack supplies power to an active speaker.

2. Battery problems in use

Battery pack BMS configuration is according to the official information configuration, batch battery learning adopts Golden Pack mode.

Independent tests of battery pack protection functions and indicators are OK.

However, when used with the equipment, the battery battery discharge MOS tube will break along with the shutdown, and it will automatically recover after being turned off for about 20ms.

Frequency: 10 devices, complete charging and discharging once for a cycle (about 20 hours), every 2-3 cycles

The probability of occurrence is 1-2 times. The failure equipment is random and the time is random.

At present, it is very difficult to locate the fault. Using EV2300 to track a device, it usually takes 2-3 days to track the tracked device without any problems.

Other devices can have random problems.

  • Gabriel,

I am not sure i understand what is going on. You are saying you produce two different devices 1 is a 4S the other is a 5S (so two different configs are needed). Then when the device is being used the FETS are turning off then recovering 20mSec later?

Please provide a more detailed description, but it sounds like the device is either "browning out" due to a large load spike, or it is tripping some sort of hardware over current protection. Anything the Firmware will do will not respond on the mSec speed.

    Thanks,

    Eric Vos
