TPS2420: Regenerative braking

It would be helpful if you could explain more about your system use case. What I gather is that you need solution with back to back FETs to prevent reverse current flow. TPS2420 does not have back to back FET and allows reverse current . We have a new device TPS25947 with back to back FETs and provides reverse current blocking. 

Can you explain more on point "If I use Back to Back FETs, would this work with Regenerative braking charging the batteries on the input "?

Thanks for your reply, I wish for the TPS2420 to have reverse current flow and thought I would need back to back fets for this?

So we have a robot running on 50V batteries, I want to switch/fuse the voltage to the motor drivers and other devices.

The motor drivers support regenerative braking, when it occurs, it will charge the batteries back through the TPS2420, is this OK please? Will it measure a negative current and trip?

Sorry not the TPS2420, I was looking at the TPS2420EVM at the time, but thinking of using the TPS2492!

It would be helpful in recommending a device if you could tell about the max operating current in forward direction . Also how much can be the max possible current value and time duration of peak in reverse direction?

Hi Kunal,

Continuous drain from battery is 50A, peak 71.4A for 10uS, the reverse current likely to be in the range of 1 - 5 amps for several seconds.
