TPS3620: What happens if VOUT is powered externally while VDD and VBAT are not powered?

Part Number: TPS3620

Hello TI Forum,

I'm using the TPS3620 in a circuit I am designing, and I had a question about its behavior. In this circuit, the TPS3620 will normally be acting as a battery backup IC; when VDD is lost, VOUT will be sourced from VBAT instead. However, during initial provisioning, there may be a time where 3.3V is seen on the VOUT pin, but both VDD and VBAT will be unpowered. In that situation, how will the TPS3620 react? Will it block current from flowing into VOUT? Will it allow current to flow backwards into both VDD and VBAT? Or just one? What happens?

Thanks!
