TPS1HB50-Q1: Extended operating range vs temperature range

Part Number: TPS1HB50-Q1

Hi

From 18V to 28V, short circuit protection is not garantee for the over all temperature range.

Is it possible to estimate the max Vbb value for the temperature range from -20°C to 50°C?

Could the component handle short circuit with Vbb=24V and ta=50°C?

  • Hi Gilles,

Thanks for contacting us. You are correct that the short circuit protection only guaranteed to max of 18V. We can't predict the behavior of the short circuit behavior at Vbb = 24V as the part is designed to work under 18V. May I know why 24V is a concern? Is this a normal bus voltage the part will be operated at?

  • Hi

In our application, 24V is the normal bus voltage.

I was using the TPS2H160AQPWPRQ1 part with current limit set at about 2.5A and use the open drain STATUS output.

But this part is no longer available today and it seems it will not available for a long time. So I have to find another solution.

  • Hi Gilles,

I understand the situation currently about the chip supply. However, there will be risk of using TPS1HB50 in 24V application as it's designed to work with voltage <18V. Please make sure you do extensive testing to make sure the functionality of the chip in your application and assess the risk appropriately.
