BQ24616: How to determine what VLOWV should be set at?

Hi team,

My customer is trying to determine what they should be setting VLOWV at, in the datasheet there is a min and max recommmended voltage but isn't this spec programmable/settable? Can you help to explain what value it should be set at and why? 

If it matters they are using a 3S 4P Li Po configuration. The battery is NCR18650B from Panasonic.

  • Also a follow up question, does the termination current need to be set at exactly 1/2 fast charge or can it be lower? They are considering doing 3A fast charge current with 300mA as termination current. They want to do a slow "overnight" charge.

  • Hi Lauren,

       VLOW is an inbuilt spec at 1.55V. The FB pin is regulated in a range from 0V to 2.1V which corresponds to the full battery charge voltage range. The resistor divider at FB scales it down to this range. VLOWV cannot be configured.

    Yes, normally termination current is selected at 10% of fast charge current.
