BQ24195: Some questions about the output current of SYS PIN of BQ24195L

Part Number: BQ24195

Hi All,

We have some questions about the output current of SYS PIN of BQ24195L.

The specification shows that the maximum current of ISYS is 2.5A, and the Ibat discharging maximum continuous current is 6A, we would like to know the current of SYS PIN in the following states:

1) What is the output current of the SYS PIN when the battery (which can output more than 6A) is connected and the VIN without power supply? Is that Ibat discharging maximum persistent current (6A), or Isys maximum (2.5A)?

2) What is the maximum output current of the Isys when the battery (which can output more than 6A) is connected and supply a power to VIN and charging batttery with 2.5A? Is that Ibat discharging maximum persistency current (6A) and Isys maximum (2.5A)?

Thanks,

Best Regards

  • Hello,

The maximum current is the IBAT value of 6A.

You can take a look at figure 9 in the datasheet, the charger will switch between supplying ISYS only from the adaptor, if more current is needed it will switch to supplement mode from the battery. If you have 2.5A from the adaptor and 6A max continuous from IBAT then the absolute max would be 8.5A from SYS. I would not recommend going over the IBAT max continuous because if the adaptor is disconnected you may trigger OCP or cause damage to the IC.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
