At the start of SMBus communication, the gauge returns "0x04" after returning ACK, what is this?
Is this an "SBS Gauging Configuration"?

Hello,

Can you share a logic analyzer capture of what you're referring to? SMBus can use PEC and also depending on the command it will report the number of bytes it is going to read.
