TPS7A05: Need higher Vin version with Active Output Discharge

Hi Team,

I received an inquiry from a customer where they need a higher Vin version of our TPS7A05 with the same Active output discharge feature. Below are their requirements:

  1. active output discharge function
  2. Max VIN>=12V,
  3. Fix Vout 3.3V
  4. SOT23-5
  5. I out>=50mA

From checking initially, it seems all our low Vin LDOs are the only ones that have this feature. Customer needs this since for some applications, they will need fast discharge of the output of the LDO. They do have a 10uF cap at the output of the LDO, which causes delays in the output to shut down for their current solution. They want to try a solution with the active output discharge to be able to meet the fast discharge requirement of some of their applications. 

Do let me know if we have a possible solution.

    You are right about not having higher Vin LDO's with active output discharge function in SOT-23 package. We are currently working on TLV767 device in SOT-23 package and should meet your requirements. However, this device is expected to release end of this year and currently we only have them in HVSSOP and WSON packages.

    Thanks for the feedback! Shared it with customer and  they are now discussing if they will change their layout or wait for the SOT23-5 version of the package. Customer does have some additional questions though. Do you have any details for the capability of this Active discharge function? For example how fast vs the Vout vs Cout, such kind of data?

    It is output pulldown current in the TLV767’s EC table.

     There is plot of variation also  (Fig 31 in this datasheet)
