TPS82130: Device stays powered on when EN pin low

Part Number: TPS82130

I have the same issue as in post: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/828955/tps82130-tps82130-outputing-a-voltage-when-enable-pin-is-low

Except that the enable doesn't seem to work at all (instead of working for some time and then quitting). Was there any resolution to that issue?

I probed the EN line and verified that is being pulled low correctly and was staying low without significant noise. I did notice a bit of ringing on the EN signal when it's first switched on. The ringing does slightly exceed V_in + 0.3V which is the listed max for the EN pin. Perhaps this is damaging the UVLO circuit?

  • Hi Maria,

If EN voltage violates the ABS MAX VIN+0.3V. It may cause permanent damage to device. Review your previous post and have my recommendations as below.

    1. Connect EN and VIN together to ensure EN voltage is always less than VIN+0.3V.

    2. Make sure power up /down sequence, Vin is on first and then EN is on during turn on, EN is off first and then Vin is off during turn off.

    3.  Add a 0.1uF cap close to EN pin and make sure EN voltage without any glitch or rining.

    Thanks,

    Nancy
