LM5140-Q1: Efficiency curve under output 1mA

Part Number: LM5140-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5143-Q1,

Hi

Due to the customer requirements like SoC sleep mode we would like to know the efficiency when LM5140Q1 under output 1mA condition, I have searched the datasheet and find the efficiency figure. Could you please tell us the efficiency value under output 1mA condition? Thank you very much.

  • Hi Zirui,

    >50% efficiency should be achievable in the 100uA to 1mA output current range.

Note that the LM5143-Q1 is the newer version of the LM5140-Q1 and is generally recommended for dual output and multi-phase applications.

    Regards,

    Tim

  • Hi Tim

Thanks for your quick response and is there a specific efficiency value for ">50%"? Besides, if there is no specific value, what is the efficiency range like >50% but smaller than a certain efficiency value? Thank you!

  • Hi Zirui,

I haven't got efficiency data available, but you can test it on the EVM. Obviously, a lower switching frequency design will provide higher efficiency.

In general, if high efficiency at light loads and low quiescent current are important, you should definitely use the LM5143-Q1 instead of the LM5140-Q1.

    Regards,

    Tim
