BQ4050: The TS1, TS2, TS3, TS4 pins

Dear All,

What does TS1, TS2, TS3, TS4 actually do? I removed TS1 and TS2 from the circuit, the battery still charged. I then shorted this pin to the ground, the battery is always charged. What are these pins really doing? Can someone explain it and how it can be used?

The data sheet is not very clear and has not been very helpful.

Hi Luke,

The datasheet gives a high level overview of the device along with the electrical specs and application circuits. The more detailed description of all of the registers and data flash is contained in the BQ4050 Technical Reference Manual. There are many settings related to these pins. There are also protections that can be enabled based on the temperatures measured.
